Yesterday, at the World Forum on
Enterprise and the Environment in
London, Maldives President Mohammed Nasheed framed climate change primarily as a security issue. Being a low lying island nation, the Maldives would be submerged beneath the ocean if climate change continues unabated. Even though the UN General Assembly passed a resolution, which Andrew blogged about, urging study of climate change as a security issue, not enough has been done to frame it in such terms. While the Maldives can afford to buy land to resettle its population, will Bangladesh?
